Director: Joe Chappelle
Producer: Paul Freeman
Writer: Daniel Farrands
Stars: Donald Pleasence, Paul Stephen Rudd, Marianne Hagan, Mitch Ryan
Release date: September 29, 1995
SHOWNOTES: It's that time again on Collateral Cinema; we are diving into yet another Halloween movie featuring everyone's favorite Haddonfield serial killer for the titular holiday. This year, it's the finale of the so-called "Cult of Thorn Trilogy"—Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers! The sixth installment of the franchise is the first filmed and set in the 90s, and boy does it show. This entry was panned by audiences and considered by many to be one of the worst Halloween sequels ever, but is it at least more entertaining than the borefest that was part 5 (which we covered last season)? Find out now, and stay tuned for the Post-Halloween Edition of Collateral Cinema: Director's Cut! where we'll be reviewing the new Toxic Avenger film!

PROMO: Movie Wars (@MovieWarsPod)
SPECIAL GUEST: Robbie Sherman, Conversations with Robbie Sherman (@convoswrob.bsky.social)
SHOWNOTES: Welcome back, stupid listeners! Are you comfortable? Are you getting enough oxygen? Collateral Cinema: Director's Cut! is back with some more Adult Swim content, and this time we are joined by our friend Robbie Sherman to review the first season of Space Ghost Coast to Coast! With the passing of legend George Lowe earlier this year, and on the occasion of the anniversary of C. Martin Crocker's death (we actually recorded this on the day), we thought it was appropriate to cover this iconic adult animated series/late night talk show parody that kicked off what would become Adult Swim (and arguably Cartoon Network as we know it), with its surrealist, non-sequitur humor that influenced so many of us growing up. So, chill with us on this special Director's Cut! episode and stay tuned for Season Nine of Collateral Cinema! You'll watch anything! Go ahead, change the channel. You'll be back!

Title: Fudoh: The New Generation [Wikipedia] [IMDb]
Director: Takashi Miike
Producers: Yoshinori Chiba, Toshiki Kimura
Writers: Toshiyuki Morioka (screenplay), Hitoshi Tanimura (original manga)
Stars: Shosuke Tanihara. Riki Takeuchi, Toru Minegishi, Kenji Takano
Release date: October 12, 1996
PROMO: Retro Anime Podcast (@retroanime)
SPECIAL GUEST: Jason Stein, Dads from the Crypt (@CryptDads)
SHOWNOTES: On our latest #Miikeversary Special, we are joined by returning guest Jason from Dads from the Crypt, as we talk about one of Takashi Miike's earlier works: Fudoh: The New Generation. Originally intended as a direct-to-video adaptation of an unfinished manga series, the producers of Fudoh were so impressed by the film that they insisted it premiere in theaters in 1996, and it's easy to see why with Miike's penchant for Yakuza stories, as well as his talent for cinematography and adapting wacky, edgy plots so far out they could only come from a manga. So, listen now, and stay tuned for more post-season content, as well as Season Nine of Collateral Cinema in October!

SHOWNOTES: We did not hit her. It's not true. It's bullshit! We did not hit her, we did naaawwwt. Oh hai listeners! Yes, you read that right; this is our 100th numbered episode of the podcast, and we are celebrating that along with the conclusion of Season Eight with a very special redux on a long-time favorite: Tommy Wiseau's The Room! On this momentous occasion, Derik from Ratchet Book Club and A Seat at the Spades Table joins Beau and Ashley as a first-time watcher of the 2003 independent film often called "the Citizen Kane of bad movies". It would be a massive understatement to call Wiseau's magnum opus The Room important to Collateral Cinema; it's practically the reason we started podcasting together in the first place! We took the opportunity to hear Derik's fresh take moments after the experience and share our thoughts on why this film is not only so important to us, but to cinema and pop culture as a whole. Thank you to all of our listeners, guests, collaborators, and fellow podcasters for helping us make it this far, and here's to Season Nine and the next 100 episodes! You are tearing us apart!

SPECIAL GUESTS: Michael Barone, Mike, Mike, and Oscar (@mmandoscar)
SHOWNOTES: Get in loser. We're going podcasting. Mike from Mike, Mike, and Oscar joins us for an analysis of the 2004 teen comedy film directed by Mark Waters and written by Tina Fey: Mean Girls! As consistently hilarious as it is quotable, this movie is a favorite of millennials, due in no small part to its surplus of memorable performances and Fey's brilliant screenplay. You can sit with us for this review, but don't forget, on Wednesdays, we wear pink. And if you think our content is fetch, stay tuned for our 100th episode and Season Finale on Tommy Wiseau's The Room very soon!
