SHOWNOTES: Thank you Collateral Cinephiles for an absolutely fun and successful second season! We're happy to celebrate it with our finale episode on a cult classic very near and dear to our hearts: The Princess Bride! Featuring for the first time on the show our friend and fellow movie fan Megan Price, we analyze the massive impact of this culturally and memetically significant film, itself a member of both the Criterion Collection and National Film Registry. Adapted from the 1973 novel of the same name, The Princess Bride also leaves much for us to discuss in its unforgettable cast of characters; many, many memorable quotes; well-done use of a frame narrative; and fairy tale plot style. We felt this movie was the perfect send-off for an incredible season, and we hope you'll share our excitement for both the film and our podcast! Look forward to our interim bonus episodes (to be announced) and Collateral Cinema Season Three—starting with the divisive Suicide Squad this October!

Beau, Robert, and Ash discuss Chasing Molly, directed by Josh Sutherland and written by Shelley Pack. Ms. Pack herself messaged us and asked us to review this comedy with elements of crime action. We delve into the many solid performances by the cast, unhinged humor, and pleasantly quick pacing. Enjoy the spoiler-free discussion, and stay tuned for our Season Finale episode on The Princess Bride!

Director: Pascal Laugier
Producers: Richard Grandpierre, Simon Trottier
Writer: Pascal Laugier
Stars: Morjana Alaoui, Mylène Jampanoï
Release date: September 3, 2008 (France)
PODCAST SHOUTOUT: FriGay the 13th (@frigay13)
SHOWNOTES: Collateral Cinema treads again into controversial territory, this time in our discussion and analysis of the 2008 French–Canadian horror film Martyrs, directed and written by Pascal Laugier! A notable entry in the New French Extremity movement, this divisive movie warrants a dialogue regarding its distinctive three-act structure transcending genres, graphic depiction of violence and torture, and morally gray plotline. We even take some time to discuss New French Extremity films as a genre. If you like this episode, don't forget to check out our other episodes, and feel free to leave us a review or feedback!

Title: Leprechaun Returns
Director: Steven Kostanski
Producers: Daniel Iron, Lance Samuels
Writers: Mark Jones (created by), Suzanne Keilly
Starring: Taylor Spreitler, Pepi Sonuga, Sai Bennett, Linden Porco, Mark Holton
Release date: December 11, 2018
PODCAST SHOUTOUT: FanScription by Channel Awesome (@ChannelAwesome)
SHOWNOTES: Collateral Cinema's exploration of the slasher genre continues in our analysis of the Leprechaun franchise—most particularly, its most recent entry: Leprechaun Returns! This 2018 TV movie chosen by our very own Robert Ortegon is the latest in a series of horror comedy films revolving around a murderous leprechaun (historically played by the great Warwick Davis) and his attempt to repossess his stolen gold. Not dissimilar to our Halloween (2018) episode earlier this season, Beau, Robert, Ash, and Dakota discuss the Leprechaun franchise history through each title, before diving into the cinematography and plot of this soft reboot taking place after the very first entry (again, just like the newest Halloween!). We also offer our thoughts on the actor performances, such as Lindon Norco picking up the torch of the titular character the Leprechaun, and Mark Holton reprising his role from the first film. Find the pot of gold at the end of a rainbow, grab a box of Lucky Charms (or should we say Lucky Clovers), and eat a dick, Ass Baggins!

SHOWNOTES: Welcome back, cinephiles and podcast fans! This episode, Collateral Cinema takes a trip into the slasher genre once more with our analysis of The Slumber Party Massacre. This particular film is unique in that it was directed, directed, produced, and written by women, despite its exploitative depiction of females! We discuss the development of this movie from a slasher parody as originally intended into a straight horror and how that aspect shows in the final product, as well as the over-the-top gore and nudity, partially unintentional but partially intentional humor, and the franchise as a whole with a brief analysis of Slumber Party Massacre II and III! This certainly will be a night to remember...

PODCAST SHOUTOUT: Victims and Villains (@VctmsAndVillans)
SHOWNOTES: We did say we would focus on good movies, BAD movies, AND everything else in-between, right? Well, folks, here is another bad movie review to behold and laugh our asses at the ridiculousness of it all: Uwe Boll's 2003 film adaption of the arcade game House of the Dead. The truth is, while it is cinematically awful on multiple levels, we truly enjoyed ourselves watching this and also discussing Uwe Boll's unique filmography, the distinctively cheesy action scenes in this flick, HOTD's frequent and ineffectual visual callbacks to the light gun arcade game series, and the hilariously bad dialogue and narrative that define the movie. Grab your arcade guns and choice of inebriating substances—a LOT of inebriating substances... and enjoy the ride!
